National Intern Day Spotlight: Amy

My name is Amy, and I am the Communications Manager for Unicorn Children's Foundation. In honor of #NationalInternDay, I am proud to share that I started out as an unpaid intern 10 years ago at just 3 hours per week. On Day 1, I created our Facebook page and have been managing it ever since. One of my biggest tasks starting out was launching a brand new website. This is a #TBT photo from the day it launched, 1 year after I started and was officially hired on #TeamUnicorn. (Don't worry - the wall was painted over after this)

Since then, I have actually launched a total of 5 more websites, created and managed all social media, created countless graphics, invitations, and more, and have managed all of our auctions. I have learned so much and have grown both personally and professionally. I am proud to have been nominated two years in a row for Nonprofit Professional of the Year at the Hats Off Nonprofit Awards. I was also a panelist for the Center for Strategic Philanthropy & Civic Engagement’s Regional Conversation on The Power of Electronic Media.

Being an intern has definitely changed my life, and I love being in the #UnicornFamily. Making a difference in the lives of individuals with special needs every day is the cherry on top!

I am proud to be a Unicorn!
