Let’s get a new car!

We would like to share a very exciting opportunity for the students at UVA. The Unicorn Children's Foundation is helping us raise money once more. This time, for a much needed new car. With so many new job sites and community activities, it’s become a challenge with only the two vehicles we have now.
Three years ago UVA purchased its first vehicle, the Nissan Van that transports our students to FAU, Keiser University and many other locations. The entire cost was covered by a donation from the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA).
The great news is that CMAA is offering us another chance to be the recipient of their generosity. However, we must do our part.
Marathon Golf is an event where golfer Gary Collins plays holes of golf for one entire day until he can’t. This year he played 126 holes! A donation is a show of support for his efforts to raise as much money as possible for us. 100% of every dollar raised goes straight into the fund to purchase an additional vehicle for UVA. And, if we raise $5,000, the CMAA will match it!!
He is accepting donations until Monday, June 5th to qualify for the match. This is where we need your help. Every dollar counts. Please reach out to family, friends, coworkers and anyone in the community that could help support us.

Thank you SO much to all of our donors who contributed to #GreatGive17 today!!!

More and more doors to inclusive opportunities are opening for individuals with special needs, but these very doors may also make them more vulnerable to bullying by their peers. Your gift will ensure that when these doors open they will reveal supportive peers.

Creating Compassionate Children Testimonial

“This is a must have for every early childhood classroom.…The story takes you on a journey from two different perspectives in a very unique way providing true insight into the everyday life of a child on the autism spectrum. The book also gives useful nuggets of advice and resources that teachers can utilize within their classroom and parents can utilize at home. And last but not least, the book shows the beautiful friendships that can develop within inclusive educational settings.”
– Shelley Nowicki, Mother of a child on the Autism Spectrum, Educator, Advocate and Parent liaison for Strengthening Outcomes with Autism Resources (soar)

Creating Compassionate Children Toolkits

"Children with special needs are an easy target for bullies because of their desire to fit in and make friends coupled by their challenges in understanding social cues,” said Sharon Alexander, Executive Director of the Unicorn Children’s Foundation. “More and more doors to inclusive opportunities are opening for individuals with special needs, but these very doors may also make them more vulnerable to bullying by their peers. Your gift will ensure that when these doors open they will reveal supportive peers."

Break Down Myths!

We need your help to break down myths and fears before they develop into stereotypes and stigmas which ultimately result in isolation and bullying. Creating Compassionate Children TM is an international campaign designed to help students build a culture of understanding, acceptance, inclusion, and most importantly, respect. By educating children at an early age about differences and including children with special needs as friends in their social environments, research has shown that we can foster caring peer support and eliminate bullying.

Golf "Fore" a Cause!

Because you have golfed with us in the past and/or love playing golf, and also because you support the Unicorn Children’s Foundation, we thought we would put together a Virtual Golf Tournament that will enable you to play your favorite sport, earn prizes, and help raise funds to support our Foundation.  All proceeds raised benefit UCF, and directly support programs that will help kids with special needs excel in the community.

This idea is designed to correspond with the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) Marathon Golf, which the Unicorn Children’s Foundation is one of the benefitting charities involved.  Gary Collins, Partner at Master Club Advisors, will be playing on our behalf on Monday, May 8, 2017.  He plays a Marathon by hitting holes of golf all day long; Last year he hit a record 150 holes in 1 day!!  Donations raised by participating charities will be matched up to $5,000 by CMAA!   Also, for every $100 dollars donated, the donor is entered into a drawing for a chance to win a Golf Weekend Getaway to Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, FL.

(For more information about the CMAA event and how to support us directly through that, please visit http://www.unicornchildrensfoundation.org/event/marathon17).

Funds raised from our Virtual Golf Tournament will count towards this CMAA campaign as a fun way to give, participate and help Unicorn win!
