March 11, 2014, BOCA RATON, FL… Nonprofit organizations, corporate sponsors and private citizens have rallied again this year to fund the annual Boating & Beach Bash for People with Disabilities. A burst of community support, including a title sponsorship grant from Unicorn Children’s Foundation, has insured that the 6th annual Bash maintains its reputation as the biggest, free, fun-day event in the nation for people with physical and/or intellectual challenges.

Thanks to Unicorn and the generosity of the public and private sectors, the 2014 Bash will be held Saturday, March 22, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, at Spanish River Park on A1A in Boca Raton, FL. Upwards of 6,000 guests are expected to participate, including children, adults, wounded warriors, and their respective caregivers. Families of special needs guests are also encouraged to attend.

New to the Bash this year will be the addition of low impact sporting events designed to accommodate the abilities of Bash attendees vs. their disabilities. Dr. Paul Schwartz, Medical Director of Pinecrest Rehabilitation Hospital at the Delray Medical Center, along with the hospitals Recreational Rehabilitation Director, Tiffany Charlson, having been working with their staff to offer Bash guests numerous fun, sporting challenges, from casting for magnetized fish, to wheelchair yoga and kite flying.

Guests attending the free event will be treated to a complimentary BBQ lunch, a nonstop concert, the chance to meet their favorite action heroes and, at the centerpiece of the Bash, the opportunity to enjoy a free ride on the Intracoastal Waterway aboard two dozen yachts and motor boats, lent for the day by members of Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club.

A Fun Zone, an Exhibitor Zone, therapy ponies, service dogs, storytelling beneath the trees, live music, and two DJ’s playing the latest hits, round out the day’s offerings. For further information visit: www.boatingbeachbash.com or call 561.715.2622.
