A Mother's Testimony: Become a Companion

We believe that everyone has the opportunity to help someone else, whether they directly have Special Needs, or if they know someone, we believe that by providing this FREE training to YOU, then you will be able to make an impact.

The Unicorn Children’s Foundation will be hosting a training on Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 9am to 5pm at the Boca Raton Children’s Museum to increase the availability of high quality respite care providers in Palm Beach and Broward County. Respite provides temporary relief for families from the ongoing responsibility of caring for an individual with special needs.

This 8 hour workshop is based on a national evidence-based model from REST to provide care companions with the tools necessary to help them build confidence and provide high-quality respite care to adults and children. No prior experience is required to attend this very interactive training program, only a desire to help strengthen families and our community.

One mom shared, “I struggled a lot as a parent of 3 children with special needs. The diagnoses initially were overwhelming. Because of my profession as a therapist, I found myself feeling incompetent as a mother AND therapist, feeling I should be able to handle the circumstances. However, respite made space available for me to do my own therapy as well as continue my studies; I was able to release those limiting beliefs and learn how to be really present for my children...and husband. Our family has strengthened as a result. This has been a life changing support for me. I will forever be in gratitude!”

Do you have what it takes to give caregivers the break they need to refresh and recharge so they can keep up caring for their loved ones without burning out? A $10 registration fee is required to reserve your spot but is refundable upon completion of the course.
