Happy National Coffee Day!
In Honor of #NationalCoffeeDay, Help Make Special Percs Cafe™ a Reality!
Special Percs Café™ is a new project of Unicorn Children’s Foundation, an initiative designed to address gaps in cradle to career pathways for kids and young adults with special needs. In partnership with Mammoth Coffee Roasting Co, a California based small batch roasting coffee company, this café will provide vocational training and employment options for young adults with special needs. Unicorn hopes to create a path for these individuals to become more valued, accepted and included within the community through meaningful employment options in a competitive high-demand industry, as well as give their lives meaning and purpose one cup at a time, while providing a high quality customer experience.
1 of every 6 children will be diagnosed with a developmental or learning disorder and will likely require additional supports to be meaningfully engaged in their communities. 80% of individuals with special needs are unemployed or underemployed despite their desire and ability to work. This program will eventually lead to other opportunities for growth and revenue sources for individuals with special needs in other areas where they may showcase their unique abilities such as arts and hospitality, as well as creating a space in the community where inclusion happens in a very natural way. A business employing people with different abilities will also educate the general public on how we can relate, employ and be friends with people who are challenged by neurodiversity and special needs. Special Percs will help them realize their incredible capabilities while providing a quality customer service experience in a high demand industry.
