What is your greatest lesson learned in life thus far?

I have learned that you get to wake up every day and decide what kind of day and life you are going to have so you might as well choose to go after your dreams and make it amazing.

What does it mean to you to be nominated as one of "South Florida's Young Leaders in Philanthropy?"

I feel absolutely honored and honestly was very shocked when I got the email.  There are so many amazing people in our community doing unbelievable things and I feel like I can always be doing more to make a difference.  I am grateful to have Mary Ann Morgan-Fried in my life and it meant so much to me that she nominated me for this amazing honor.

Tell us something that no one knows about you.

I’m a very open book so there’s not much that people don’t know about me but there is something about my family which isn’t widely known: my great grandfather, Arthur C. Moses, lived in Washington, D.C. and was friends with President Taft. He is known there as one of the first Boy Scout officials who organized scouting in the district in 1911.

What does it mean to you to nominated as one of "South Florida's Young Leaders in Philanthropy?"

It’s an honor to have such a nomination. I hope to continue to live up to this title by continuing my current philanthropic efforts and reaching beyond.

What does it mean to you to nominated as one of "South Florida's Young Leaders in Philanthropy?"

I am very flattered to be nominated by the Unicorn Children’s Foundation for this unique honor. I am proud that I could represent such an important organization that is making tremendous strides towards helping those with neurodiversity through education and acceptance.

Why should people get involved with your foundation(s)?

Well if they have not been involved with a foundation in the past they should since it will make them feel good knowing that they are helping others, not only today but in the future.  Organizations like Unicorn Children Foundation provide support through multiple vehicles such as education, health, social and economic well being.  The focus is not just improving a person’s life today; it’s providing individuals with the support to become anyone they wish to be in the future.

Why did you decide to get involved with charity work and "giving back?"

There are several reasons why I decided to get involved.  First and foremost, it is the right thing to do.  Having the means and ability to give back is a horrible thing to waste.  Secondly, it makes me feel good to give back.  Lastly, I think it helps one develop and grow as an individual by gaining new perspectives.

What is your earliest memory of “giving back?"
My earliest memory of giving back was during the Holidays, I was 9 years old and my mom and dad explained to my brother and I that there were children in the world who were not fortunate enough to afford presents. That Hanukkah my brother and I cleaned out our toy closet and donated more than half of our toys to the SOS Children’s Village in Coconut Creek FL.

What does it mean to you to nominated as one of "South Florida's Young Leaders in Philanthropy?"
I am incredibly honored to be given this award. I never get involved with charity or service to receive something back in return. I absolutely love getting involved with different organizations and believe that volunteering my time and exposing myself in other peoples living situations all over the world keeps me centered.

What is your earliest memory of “giving back?”

My earliest memory of “giving back” was when I was Hebrew school, as young as six, raising funds to plant trees in Israel. I also grew up with a tzedakah box in my house where I would put spare change in to donate to the less fortunate.

What does it mean to you to nominated as one of "South Florida's Young Leaders in Philanthropy?"

The nomination of being one of “South Florida’s Young Leaders in Philanthropy” is a great honor. It is nice to be recognized as someone who has donated time and money towards different charitable organizations to ultimately help the lives of others. This is also a great opportunity for me to spread awareness about the charity that I care about so deeply. The FIDF (Friends of the Israeli Defense Forces) is an organization that initiates and helps support educational, social, cultural and recreational programs and facilities for the young men and women soldiers of Israel who defend the Jewish homeland. The FIDF also supports the families of fallen soldiers.

 What is your charitable mission?
Impact tomorrow’s future leaders. Lead by example. Educate. Provide insight. Motivate others.

Tell us something that no one knows about you.

I believe in fate, destiny and soul mates. My wife and I have been together before birth. How you ask? Our mothers were in Lamaze class together. We were side by side to one another in our mothers wombs. We were born in the same hospital exactly a week a part. We went to one another’s first three birthday parties. Fast forward 30 years and we are now married almost 7 years with two kids.

What does the word “philanthropist” mean to you?
A Philanthropist is someone who gives of their time, talents, and treasures to causes that they care about, in pursuit of making the world a better place because they were a part of it.

What does it mean to you to nominated as one of "South Florida's Young Leaders in Philanthropy?"
The nomination is an incredible honor and something I am very proud of. To be honored in something that indicates someone or a group of “someones” believes I am making a difference means a lot to me.

What is your greatest lesson learned in life thus far?
The greatest lesson that I have learned is to never stop or give up. I had an idea how to start an organization, but I set out to achieve my goals and I never gave up on that dream. It has now grown into a national organization just because I stuck with it.

What is your fondest most charitable moment?
I really can't choose just one because there are so many amazing and moving moments, however, when i was at a lower and middle school in Homestead, Florida there was a little boy who said that he dad was away in the army. He and his mom have been having a tough time with him being away. The little boy came up to me and thanked me by saying that learning to play an instrument has been so good because he can play for his mother when she is sad and crying and it makes her feel better. It made this little boy happy too because he now had something to look forward to going to school for. Musical Cares made such an impact on this child's life and even helped out his mother to bring some joy during a bad time in their lives.

Don't You Wanna be Special?

This song has an awesome message. Even if you don't like rap, take a few minutes out of your day to listen to the message. Who doesn't want to be special? It is time to eradicate the stigma behind "special education" and realize that we are all special and unique! Every child deserves the education and opportunity to reach their full potential. Join the movement for neurodiversity acceptance!
