Why are the goals for students with special needs focused on becoming independent?

The reality is that we are all interdependent on each other. Our relationships help us to get jobs, find roommates, and engage in social recreational activities. We should not have different expectations for individuals with special needs. Join us at the October 9th Social Capital Symposium from 8am-4:30pm to learn about this game changing philosophy and how it can be used to build social networks and take advantage of natural supports in inclusive community settings.
